Our neighborhood is like a trick-or-treat mecca. They bus ‘em in, man. I’m serious. It was raining when trick-or-treating started at 6, but we already had two families by 6:05. The rain let up about a half hour later, and it was like a free-for-all.

I really like handing out candy. I loved trick-or-treating when I was little, so I think it’s really important to hand out candy if we are home. I also LOVE looking at kid’s costumes. There were some really great costumes this year!

Here’s Simone looking for the trick-or-treaters with a treat of her own.

Here were some of my favorite trick-or-treaters:

– A little girl dressed as Dorothy. She had the curled, pigtailed-long hair and a little basket with a stuffed dog inside. It was funny because she couldn’t fit the candy in her basket because the dog took up all the room!

– Twin boys dressed as bugs. These kids were probably not even two, and they were stinkin’ adorable. They tottered down our driveway with their bags of candy. Their parents had these monkey backpack things that had leashes attached. I think that’s kind of weird, but when the one kid tried to push his way into our house, I was glad the dad could pull him back with the leash, haha. The boy’s name was Anderson and he was trying to get to our cats.

– Princesses. Oh geez. Multiple, elaborate princesses. Makeup, updos. The whole shebang. Maybe I should start a princess-costume-making business, because it seems lucrative.

– A little boy dressed as a bear. Only his face was peeking out and he was pretty much the cutest thing ever. Neal was standing at the door and I was in the kitchen. Neal yells from the door “Hey, Megan, come here, you have to see this kid!….. Oh no!…. Oh, he just fell in the grass!…. Oh, he’s getting up now….. He’s kinda wet now……” HAHA, it was pretty funny. He was adorable. I came to the door and the fall must not have fazed him. “Hi!” he yelled. His mother, who looked exhausted, said that he kept running because he was so excited and this was not the first time he had fallen that night. HAHA!

Can ya tell I enjoyed handing out candy? We bought three large bags and only have half a bag left. It was a madhouse! The only thing that slightly peeved me was that we had some double dippers. I really didn’t care about the little kids, but there was this one scary-looking goth/witch teenager with her little sister. They came up the door and I said “Oh, hey, I remember you, but that’s OK, I’ll give you more candy.” The teenager just stared at me. I said “Don’t you remember me?” (I mean, they were seriously at my house about 20 minutes ago). The teenager said “No” and held out her bag of candy. She kind of freaked me out so I hurried up and gave her candy so she didn’t put a spell on me or something.

For dinner, I made some shrimp scampi. It was scrumptious, but I got distracted by trick-or-treaters and the top got a little burnt, haha. And sorry for the crappy picture. I was starving and just wanted to eat!

And to get in the fall mood, I made some pumpkin muffins with cream cheese icing. Oh boy, are these things good! I got the recipe here.

Well, the Eagles should have won. They were playing a terrible team, haha.

Here’s hoping the Phillies win tonight!

Anyway, here are a couple of things my body is experiencing right now:

1. I have a knot on my right ankle that is red and getting bigger. The kickballs they used were HUGE and I pretty much kicked it with my ankle every time.

2. I have a semi-bloody brush burn on my wrist. Origin is unknown.

3. My arms are very tired. I had trouble washing my hair in the shower a minute ago and I’m concerned about my ability to do laundry later tonight. This is caused by pumping my arms while running my ass off and doing the ol’ wheel-arm move to wave people to run.

4. My legs have pretty much peaced out for the day. I stumbled walking down the stairs and am not sure I’m going to be able to get up to walk to the kitchen to get dinner. I might need Neal to feed me where I sit.

5. My head is pounding from squinting since I forgot to bring my sunglasses.

So yeah, I’m not in good shape at the moment. I didn’t do horrible today. I made a lot of mistakes, but I also made some pretty good plays.

Neal, as always, was a hit. Here are three compliments he was given today:

1.” Neal IS our ringer!”

2. “Your husband is a great athlete. Did he play soccer?”

3. “He is chiseled.” (This was my personal favorite)

OK, so I’m going to sign off now. My plan is to pretty much be a vegetable tonight. I just want to sleep the next two days, since my body is really going to let me have it tomorrow. Ugh.

I’m sorry!

First of all, my blog kind of got hacked into and Neal had to work some magic to fix it. And then I just decided to take a hiatus. But I’m back! And better than ever, baby!

I have fabulous pictures from an AMAZING night to show you. I feel bad I haven’t shown you these earlier. Here’s the deal – Neal and I LOVE the show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” It’s a comedy that’s on FX Thursday nights. I kind of call it the anti-”Friends” (you know that show). Basically it’s a group of friends that own a bar. They are all self-absorbed and backstab each other and other people. They never get ahead and every episode ends with them at the same point in their lives, if not worst. Sound depressing? It’s not, it’s AWESOME and HILARIOUS. Neal and I love it.

So, to promote the new season, the cast traveled to a couple cities and performed last season’s finale LIVE on stage. The creator is from Philadelphia and the night of the premier, they were performing in Philly. The show sold out in 30 seconds and Neal was not able to get tickets. I guess because of popular demand, they added a second show in Philly that same night at 11 p.m. SOMEHOW, even though the tickets sold out again in seconds, Neal was able to get tickets. He rules!

So we headed to the Tower Theater in Upper Darby two weeks ago on a Thursday to attend the show, called “The Nightman Cometh.” Even though we had tickets, we still stood in line. There is a song that everyone knows from the show, called “Dayman” that a character wrote and performed on the show. While standing in line, random performances of “Dayman” kept breaking out. It was pretty funny.

Charlie is my favorite. I love his character and I love him.

Yes, that’s Danny Devito. The name on the poster is his character’s name.

Neal and I bought special shirts for the shower. I’m not going to bother to explain them, because if you aren’t a fan of the show, it’s not going to make sense, haha.

Greenman what the character Charlie becomes when he dresses in an all body, green lycra costume. Big fan favorite. There were several Greenmen at the show.

We got into the theater a little after 10:30. There was a makeshift “Paddy’s Pub” set up, which is the name of the bar the gang owns in the show.

We saw one of our college friends there, and of course, he was a Greenman, hahaha.

And then the show started. The theater was PACKED. First we watched an episode from this coming season. It was so cool to watch an episode with hundreds of other “Sunny” fans, because everyone laughed at the right times. Like, we all just GOT IT. So cool.

And then the cast cast came out and performed last season’s finale episode. It was unreal to see the cast live, and it was extra cool to watch in the show’s hometown. The creator is from Philly and the show is shot in Philly.

So anyway, it was honestly the coolest thing. It was a long night. We didn’t get home until 3 a.m. But it was SOOOO worth it. Neal’s awesome for being able to get tickets, and I’ll truly never forget the experience.

It’s going to be Christmas before I know it.

Anyway, I know I’ve been MIA. I’m trying to enjoy the last of the warm weather (which seems to be steadily disapearing starting this week).

We had our parents and some friends over Sundy for a little Labor Day picnic. I took a bunch of pictures, but screw all my friends. The best pictures are of the babeh!

Yes, we had a babeh visit us and it was pretty cool.

This cutey is the love child of our friends Katie and Frankie. I posted pics a while back of Katie and I at her baby shower.

Like, I actually gag. Dry heave. I get the heeby cheebies. My skin starts crawling. I’m rendered unable to speak (well, I sort of squeal and whine). I mean, I really can’t stand insects – mostly large ones.

I have no idea why I’m like that, but insects just cause this physical reaction from me. I know it’s weird. Those damn gigantic cicadas are out right now, and I fear for my life every time I walk out my front door at night. They are attracted to our porch light.

Neal flicked one off our screen door and it screeched as it flew away. I threatened that if it was still there when we got home, I was going to go in the back door. Trust.

I mean, those things are huge, like the size of my index finger. My stomach is churning right now just thinking about them. Seriously.

So, please understand the BRAVERY, COURAGEOUSNESS, and all around DISREGARD FOR MY LIFE that I displayed while taking the following pictures.

That’s as close as I was willing to go. And I was lightheaded after taking these. If you click on the pictures, you can see the pictures larger. I don’t really want to, but you might, haha.

It’s amusing, because I worked at a pet store for about 3 years in high school/college. I had to count crickets to sell for people’s reptiles, but that didn’t bother me. We sold hissing cockroaches, but I actually thought those were cool.

Also, Neal said insects freak him out a little, too. But he said he’s less freaked out when I’m around since I go batshit crazy. So, I’m glad I can make the hubby feel manly.

So, last night, we shot down to Baltimore right after work. After mucho stress trying to find parking, we managed to find our friends tailgating outside of the stadium about an hour before game time. We hung out for a little before heading into the stadium for kickoff.

Here’s the deal – my only experience with professional sports is going to baseball games. So, I guess that’s what I was sort of expecting. WOW, was I off, haha.

Attending a pro football game is much more intense, much more rowdy and much less kid-friendly. I realized the difference before we even got to the stadium. And when the Ravens came out onto the field? The whole place erupted. We were still finding the way to our section inside the stadium when this happened, and the sound was deafening.

Our seats were banging. They were season tickets, in the second section. I couldn’t believe what a view we had. One thing Neal and I both found interesting was that the field looked a lot smaller than on TV. Weird.

I’m not going to post pictures of Neal’s coworker and his wife, only because I didn’t ask their permission because I’m too embarrassed to admit I have a blog, hahahaha. But they are super cool people and we had A LOT of fun with them. Plus, it was incredibly sweet of them to ask us to the game. These were $110 seats!

I think this was the huddle right before the QB threw an interception for a Ravens touchdown. It was like one of the first plays (if not the first, I can’t remember). The stadium freaked out. These Ravens fans are for real. Here’s a pic of the touchdown celebration.

And then the male cheerleaders ran out on the field and waved these flags around.

Speaking of cheerleaders, T (we’ll use that abbreviation for Neal’s coworker’s wife) and I were pretty excited to watch the cheerleaders. They were really entertaining! And so tiny! I mean, these girls looked short and petite. They were so cute.

I know, I’m kinda ridiculous.

So anyway, I tried to follow the game as best as I could. It’s easier to watch on TV because the announcers will say right away what the penalty is and if they got a first down or not. So I had to bug Neal a lot to figure out everything what was going on.

We seriously had such a great time. I really paid for it today, though, because I was EXHAUSTED at work. But I’m so glad we said we’d go and it was really sweet of our companions to ask us. I told T to kiss up to her boss some more so maybe he’ll give us more tickets.

Anyway,  I was sitting on the couch watching TV after I got home from work tonight, waiting for the meatloaf to finish baking. Neal walked in the door and the first thing he said was “I smashed the shit out of my fingers today.” (I know, we talk so sophisticated, don’t we?)

Anyway, he held up his hand and showed me this:

And I threw up in my mouth a little.

I have this weird fascination with blood/wounds. I mean, I want to see, but then I also get that horrible sick stomach churning feeling and then I gag. Dry heave. Ugh.

First of all, I told him I don’t want to hear about it until after dinner. I had to eat meatloaf. With ketchup. And he also isn’t allowed to touch me with that hand, HAHA.

OK, so after dinner he explained that he was at the gym this morning and his fingers got pinched between one of those big disk weights and a bar. And then I proceeded to dry heave again. Neal said that was the same reaction he got from the front desk employee when he asked her for bandaids.

Anyway, we hope nothing is broken. Neal said he didn’t make a sound when he smashed his fingers. I told him I would have screamed my head off. He’s so stoic.

Dry heave!! GROSS!!

I’m changing the topic here, because I can’t handle the grossness anymore.

We had hail damage to our siding, so we are getting new siding. It’s just about done now, but here’s what it looked like halfway through.

The top is the old. The bottom is the new. I love it!

We also bought new outdoor lights. I completely despised our old ones.

Yay!

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for now. Neal needs help changing his dressings, HAHA, so I’m off to try and not throw up all over him. Have a great day!

No, actually, Neal and I were at his aunt’s farm for a very important and cool reason. It was his grandmother’s 80th birthday. Grandmom Eileen is such a sweetie. And boy can she cook. The first time I ate at her house, she made a salad with goat cheese and walnuts and the main course was a bacon-wrapped filet. Seriously. It was just Neal and I and his grandparents, and she made this amazing meal. Of course, to her it was nothing fancy. I loved it.

Anyway, the party was a really nice afternoon with family.

We were there for Eileen, but Aunt Judy and Uncle Ed’s farm offered too many distractions for me. I’m like 10 years old when it comes to animals. I want to talk to them and pet them and squeeze them. I realize I have issues. I’m working on them.

Oh Herbie, how I miss your felt nose and big watery eyes. Come live with me.  Please?

Yes, I know I posted mostly animal pictures from a family party. Well, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want, haha.

Anyway, it was a nice day and I think Eileen had a great time.

I hope to go back to the farm soon. I asked Aunt Judy if she would adopt me, and she just kind of laughed politely.

So…. I’ll take that as a maybe?

We went to Wolfe’s Neck State Park in the morning for a short trail. I told Dan to take it easy on me since I’m a wimp, so it was definitely more of a walking trail than a hike, haha. But it was really, really beautiful and Neal and I loved it.

After that, we went to the Portland Head Light. It was a really beautiful lighthouse and I had a great time taking lots of pictures.

Then, Friday night we went out to dinner in Old Port. It’s such a cute city and really good ending to our trip.

So anyway, I have tons more pics, but just too damn many to post, haha. It was such a great vacation and Dan and Jodie were awesome hosts. I was so sad to leave that I cried. Seriously. HAHA.

But now it’s back to reality. Blah! Oh well, I was happy to see the kitties. We took them to the vet yesterday. I’ll post their updated weights later this week. Who wants to guess how much Ferris weighs?

The plan was to stay in Boston Thursday night, and then drive to Maine Friday to visit our friends Dan and Jodie until Sunday.

We got to Boston around 3:30 or so Thursday. After driving around the block once trying to find parking, we pulled up in front of our hotel, only to learn it was valet parking. HAHA, ooops. We stayed at the Omni Parker House, which is a really old, beautiful hotel near Beacon Hill, and within walking distance of Faneuil Hall.

We were upgraded to a king size bed, probably because that’s just how the rooms worked out. The rooms were very small, but very cool. Our bed took up the whole room!

We freshened up and then headed out into town. It started to drizzle, but we walked around anyway. We were only there for one night and didn’t want to waste it. We walked to Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market area.

And we ate dinner at Kingfish Hall, which is owned by Todd English (Neal and I love the show  “Top Chef” and he’s been a guest judge on the show before).

The food was AMAZING. The lighting was really yellow, so my pictures aren’t that great. Neal ordered the dancing fish special, which is basically a whole fish roasted over a spit. I got the halibut. Everything was so good. It was a really great dinner. Neal gets credit for researching restaurants and finding this one. Thanks, babe!

The weather started to get worse, so we headed back to the room. We knew the next day was going to be a long day.

We got up Friday morning, ate at a nearby bagel shop, and then drove the two hours to Maine. It was a pretty crappy, rainy day, but it was so awesome to see Dan and Jodie. Dan was still at work, so Jodie, Neal and I headed into the town of Old Port to eat lunch and walk around.

I took a lot of photos on this trip, but I’m trying to keep this post under a 5 minute load time, haha. So I’m not going to post all the pictures.

On our way back to Dan and Jodie’s house, we stopped to get live lobsters to cook at night. There are different sizes of lobsters, and you ordered by pounds of that size. It was sort of confusing because the sizes weren’t like, small medium and large. We ordered the “chix” size, which are 1 pound (Jodie and Dan say the smaller ones often have better quality meat). Anyway, it was funny because I was confused on how to order, and Jodie was like “Oh, it’s just like Starbucks. Just don’t say small, medium and large!” HAHA! I thought that was hilarious and actually helped me understand the ordering system.

We went back to their house and waited for Dan to get home. We hung out on the back porch for a little.

And this is Summit, Dan and Jodie’s dog. He’s like the best dog ever. They can leave him home for like 13 hours without letting him out. He rarely barks and listens very well. He’s just a very calm, chill dog. Neal and I loved him.

Then we began preparing the lobster dinner. We took lots of silly pictures, but I’m not going to bore you with all of them.

I didn’t take pictures of us eating, since it was a pretty messy, buttery affair. But I have to say, it was probably the most delicious dinner I’ve ever had in my life. That lobster was out-of-this-world good. And I’m definitely not a vegetarian since I didn’t feel one ounce of guilt from boiling and eating those little suckers, haha.

OK, so I’ll post about our Saturday later this week. I have a lot of really awesome pics. A good thing? Saturday was BEA-utiful in Maine.

But I don’t have time to go over that tonight. We’re getting ready for a little get-away, because today is our anniversary!

It’s been three years since we got hitched, and I really can’t believe it. Three years!! It’s gone so fast, and I’m grateful EVERY DAY for having such an amazing, caring, kind, perfect husband. I know I give him shit, haha, but he’s awesome. I definitely traded up.

So, happy anniversary to us, Baby!

I have been to more Orioles games than I can count, and I will always love and be a fan of the Orioles. But Neal’s a Phillies fan, and so I am too. Orioles and Phillies are in different leagues, so that’s my justification, haha.

I was rather bummed out, as it was sunny ALL WEEK when I was stuck inside working, and then Saturday was overcast and cloudy. Grrrr. Oh well. Neal and I left York around 1 p.m. Saturday and got to Philly at 3 p.m. We met up with the rest of our friends in the parking lot of the Lincoln Financial Field and tailgated until game time.

We had hot dogs, burgers, snacks, and of course beer.

And what’s a tailgate without some flip cup?

Even though the sun wasn’t out, it was still a really hot day. It was really fun to hang out and chill with friends.

OK, and then we headed into the game. I thought the stadium was pretty neat. I’m used to Camden Yards, which I think is really cool, but Citizens Bank Park was nice, too.

I put on my zoom lens, 55-200. We had just about the highest seats in the park, haha, but I still think I was able to zoom in well enough on the players.

These might look far away, but trust me, we were farther. Neal looked through the camera a couple of times just as binoculars, haha.

The game was pretty boring up until the last inning. The Phils weren’t playing that well, and they were losing to the Pirates – who STINK! I was having a good time, but very bummed that the game wasn’t better. Then, with the score 7-3, Pittsburgh, the Phils were up for their last at bat. And that’s when the action happened. Stairs blasted a home run and then everything changed. Everyone was on their feet screaming during the next couple at bats. I’m not going to even try to give you a play by play here, because I’ll sound like a moron, haha. Just know it was fun and exhilarating and I’m so glad it ended up being a good game. The Phils won 8-7.

I loved how the crowd yelled “Raaaauuuuuuulll” for Raul Ibanez, haha.

WIN! Whoo hoo!

So anyway, I’m glad I can now say I went to a Phillies game. It was really fun to enjoy it with friends, and I hope to do it again, soon.

Thursday night, we hung out with some of Neal’s coworkers, which was tons of fun.

Friday, Neal’s brother and parents came over so that Drew and Neal could move our dressers up to our bedroom. It took a whole of 10 minutes, and I’m so happy with how the bedroom is shaping up!

Please excuse the multitude of construction tools scattered around. It’ll look like a real bedroom soon!

Then, Neal’s parents and brother stayed for dinner, and my parents joined us. I made a bunch of stuff. I recently bought some Tastefully Simple beer bread, so I made that and threw in some cheese and garlic. It was really good.

Then, I made some ribs using my cousin’s boyfriend’s mom’s recipe (did you get all that? haha). They were magnificent. My dad loved them. I forgot to take a picture before we dug in, so this is a pic of the loan half a rack that was left.

And I made some lemon pepper shrimp kabobs.

I also made a pound cake and served it with some fresh fruit, but forgot to take a picture, haha. It was really fun to hang out with the family, and Neal and I really enjoyed ourselves.

Saturday night, we attended the wedding of college friends of ours, Paul and Bird. As always, it was a blast.

Paul couldn’t seem to keep his eyes open for a picture, hahaha. They were such a cute couple! I love Bird to death because she’s short like me.

And we had a great time dancing.

So anyway, it was a really fun-filled weekend! So sad it’s over. I still haven’t posted pictures of last week’s wedding, so I’ll have to do that later this week.

I have often thought how I wish I knew then what I know now, although then I wouldn’t have made the mistakes and steps that took me where I am today, but oh well. And I realize I’m only 26, but high school seems REALLY far away to me.

Can we say stinkin’ adorable? I loved this kid. He’s 5 1/2 months old, and was the hit of the party. He passed out around 7 or 8 p.m. finally from all the excitement. And I might have pinched his cheeks a couple of times. And his little little arms. And his legs. Gah! I loved the kid!

And the next growing boy was Cole. He’s about 7 months old now (I think that’s what Andi said) and boy has he grown! His paws are HUGE!! And he’s not done growing yet. He’s going to be a big boy. He was so cute and so good. The guys played a lot with him and really tuckered him out.

The weather was so gorgeous this weekend. We had such a fun time at Shawn and Andi’s. Sunday, we got some more drywall done and I really feel like we are accomplishing a lot. I CANNOT WAIT until the room is done. So excited!

Did you hear that? Yeah, I actually worked out! GO ME!

Neal’s been gently mentioning that I really should get in shape, for health reasons. I complain about my back hurting sometimes, and he knows that if I worked out and strengthened it, that wouldn’t happen. And he’s such a health freak, so being in shape is important to him and only wants me happy and healthy. Also, I should be in shape before I get knocked up, or it will really suck to lose the weight after I pop out a kid.

We bought an elliptical machine about 3 years ago or so, and I’ve barely used it. We mostly bought it for me. It’s a sore subject that my family brings up anytime they want to see Neal give me a death glare, haha.

When we moved in, Neal set up a little TV for me in the basement in front of the elliptical machine, and we have a DVD player down there. So today, I watched one episode of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” while on the elliptical (Neal’s parents bought us seasons one and two on DVD for Christmas). That show makes me double over with laughter and I love it so much that the time flew and I was on the thing for 25 minutes! I know that’s not a really long time, but dude, baby steps, OK?

I also did a couple of exercises on my exercise ball.

I know this will last about a week or two and then I’ll go back to be my lazy-ass self, but oh well. A+ for effort!

Saturday, Neal and I attended the wedding of a college friend of ours. Since Pete started dating Alycia, she’s also become a good friend of mine, and I was looking forward to attending their wedding for a long time. The ceremony was beautiful, and Alycia looked amazing.

I only took pictures at the reception, since no flash was allowed in the church and I only had my point-and-shoot camera. The reception was A BLAST. I had so much fun. All our friends was there and it was wild and crazy and awesome.

Katie, my friend whose baby shower I recently attended was there with her hubby, who was the best man.

I have no idea what is going on in this picture, hahaha.

Anyway, a great time was had by all. I was so happy to be able to attend the wedding, since Pete and Alycia are such a special couple.

Neal and I spent the rest of the weekend doing drywall and we also attended a fun BBQ at my cousin’s house.

I’ll post drywall pics this week. Neal and I got a lot accomplished, and we see the end in sight! Whoo Hooo!

So, Neal and I had wedding 1 out of 5 in 2009 Saturday. The bride is Neal’s cousin. The ceremony was held in a really beautiful church and the ceremony was at a nice reception hall.

We posed for pics outside the church, but we really shouldn’t have had the sun at our backs, since the pictures got a little overexposed. Oooops!

Drew and Amanda. Oh, and Amanda’s tall, too, apparently. I’m like the vertically-challenged outcast in this family.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures. But I did make Neal get a nice picture of the bride and groom at their table at the reception.

The bride, Amanda, had a beautiful dress. She looked really, really lovely.

And I didn’t take pictures of the food! I know! I’m kicking myself. But it was late and I was STARVING and I scarfed it down. I mean, filet mignon doesn’t last too long around me.

And…. drum roll… the cake!

Anyway, it was a really beautiful wedding, and I had tons of fun. We danced all night and my feet are still sore. I hate taking off my shoes at weddings, because I have this unfounded fear that someone is going to step on my feet. But I broke down and took them off eventually. Oh, and I learned about some new dance, called the “perculator” or something like that. Amanda (Drew’s girlfriend, not the bride, haha) showed me some moves, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to do it anytime soon!

Oh, and they played Bon Jovi, so that’s a definite plus in my book!

(Random Megan fact – I sang “Living on a Prayer” karoake on my 21st birthday with a long island iced tea spilled all over my pants. Oh, and I also fell down in the middle of singing.)

This weekend, I’m heading to AC for a weekend with my girls. I’m so freakin’ EXCITED! Seriously, I’m not sure I’m going to make it till Friday! Ack!

First of all, I went to work Friday, even though I was hacking up a lung and had a migraine-sized headache. I hated to use up one of my sick days when I wasn’t actually puking or anything.

Well, in retrospect, I should have just taken off. Around noon, I started to shiver uncontrollably. Being in complete denial, I just chalked it up to the office being cold. Then around 2, I started to sweat. It was gross. We leave at 4 on Fridays, so I toughed it out for another two hours.

OK, so I got home and took my temperature. It was 99.6 or something. That’s really minor and figured it was just my body fighting off a little infection. I don’t even know if that makes sense, but I was tired and not thinking clearly. Anyway, I was in bed by 6 p.m. I woke up a couple of times, hacking up a lung. Neal checked on me a couple of times. Around 11 p.m., I finally rose from my death bed because I was BURNIN’ UP. And not like the Jonas Brothers.

I took my temperature and it was 102.2! Ack! That’s a freakin’ fever!

I looked at Neal. “What do you do for a fever!?”

Neal: “I don’t know, I haven’t had a fever since I was like 10.”

Me: “Me either!”

So what does a responsible, independent, 26-year-old woman do when she has a fever?

She calls her mom.

My mom, bless her heart, answered the phone at 11 p.m. She assured me she wasn’t sleeping, but I think she just said that so I wouldn’t feel bad for waking her up.

I got the low down, drink fluids — preferably ginger ale — take ibuprofen, sleep, eat toast. She offered to make care of me, hahaha. I said, that’s OK, I’ll be fine at home.

Thank God for mothers.

So, there was one problem – we had no ginger ale. Not even soda. And I ALWAYS drank ginger ale when I was sick when I was younger, so I was craving ginger ale. So Neal, bless HIS heart, ran to the gas station down the street at 11:30 p.,m. on Friday to get me ginger ale.

Thank God for husbands.

So, armed with ginger ale, a toast-full belly and ibuprofen, I went to sleep. I woke up a couple of times in a gross, gross sweat from the fever. By 9 a.m. Saturday, I was pretty much fully awake and well-rested. I hopped in the shower right away, since I was covered in a film of sweat. Bet you’re glad I’m giving you this detail, huh?

But now, I’m feeling much better. My fever must have broke overnight, because my temperature was back to normal this morning. I still have a stuffy nose, and slight cough, but I no longer feel like dying, so I’m a happy camper.

All I have to say is, who needs webmd.com when I have my mom?
