So, WOW! Bye ‘08, Hello ‘09! I can’t believe it. Happy New Year!
Neal and I had such a great, relaxing (for once) New Year’s, and I’ll get to that in a bit. But I’m feeling nostalgic today, so I’d like to comment on some of the highs of 2008.
Our 2nd anniversary: Neal and I entered year 3 of our marriage with a bang. We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our second anniversary. I truly love being married, but most of all, I love being married to Neal. I know I complain and poke fun at him a lot, including on this blog, but it’s all in fun. He’s amazing and I thank my lucky stars every morning that he loves me.
Guy time: Neal and his friends celebrated what we estimate to be the fifth Rot-con, the annual holiday they made up in college. Girlfriends/wives aren’t allowed to know what they do on the Fourth weekend of the Fourth month. All we know is the guys have a great weekend together, and that’s what matters. They went to Harrisburg and Neal came home with a broken shoe, so I’m thinking it was a good time.
Weddings, weddings, weddings: Neal and I were fortunate to celebrate the big day with many friends. In April, I was the matron of honor for Brent and Laura, two newspaper friends who I love dearly and who are true soulmates. What a beautiful wedding for to lovely souls.
In June, Neal and I traveled to the Outer Banks, one of our favorite places, so witness Shawn and Andi’s wedding. What a fantastic week full of great memories. The wedding was truly stunning, and their pictures on the beach are just stunning. We went shopping, kayaking and ate really good food all week. Definitely one of the highlights of our summer.
In August, we went to Chester County and saw one of the most beautiful brides (and my ol’ college roomie), Jodie, marry an amazing guy. Dan and Jodie are such a special couple and the reception was a blast, even if I did get in trouble for my potty mouth!
And last, but certainly not least, my brother finally got hitched in September. It was such a happy day for me. I gained a sister (in-law) and partied the night away with family at an incredible, breath-taking inn.
Yes, all we did was go to weddings this year, haha. And we already have 4 lined up for 2009. Whoo hoo!
Alma mater: I returned to Shippensburg, my alma mater, for Homecoming weekend. I had such a blast and it was crazy to see all our old haunts. The town hasn’t changed much at all, and I think I liked it that way.
Job stuff: Neal continues to really enjoy his job. For those of you who do not know, he’s a web developer for a marketing company. At the year end holiday party, he was awarded the Most Improved employee of 2008. I’m very, very proud of him. He has great work ethic and what he does is so over my head, haha.
Champs!: My company completed in a kickball tournament along with a lot of other local businesses for charity. We ended up pulling off a great performance to win the championship. Neal was on team, too, and we had a lot of fun. We better start practicing for next year!
With the girls: I spent a lovely night with my grandmother, mom, cousin and aunt, watching “Menopause: The Musical” at a local theater. It was so nice to spend time with the amazing women in my family. I hope we can make a date in 2009 and do something else together.
Our new camera: We purchased a Nikon D60, and have been thoroughly enjoying taking photos for the blog and for ourselves. I’m looking forward to learning more techniques and being a better photographer!
2008 was a good year for us. 2007 was very busy with a lot of changes, so it was nice that 2008 was a little bit more relaxed. Here’s to an even better 2009!
