tastes of the holiday

So, I spent most of Friday, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon in the kitchen. Which isn’t a bad thing, since that’s one of my favorite places to be!

Neal and I are heading to a Christmas party soon, but I figured I’d blog quickly about what I’ve been up to so that tomorrow can be a party recap post.

Friday night, I made a batch of cinnamon and sugar roasted almonds that I make every year to give to family, bosses, friends, etc. I love these things. They make the house smell so good, and they are truly the best right out of the oven.

I still have several more batches to make, but decided to get started.

Saturday morning, I relaxed a little, took some pictures of cats.

And then once my butter was softened, made a batch of biscotti. I decided they turned out so well when I made them recently, that I’d make some to go along with the almonds as gifts. I am storing them for now and plan to dip them in some chocolate later.

Then, I had to get ready for tonight’s party at the Bear Den. I told Andi, the host, I’d make a cheese ball. I have the cutest holiday plate for it, so it was an easy decision.

The plate came with four serving knives, two mittens and two boots! I love it!

Then I decided to make some deviled eggs. My Aunt Carol makes the best deviled eggs, and she gave me the recipe at my bridal shower.

It’s a simple recipe, but oh soo good. I still can’t make them like her, but I try.

So anyway, we’re off to have a blast tonight with friends. Hope you all have a great weekend!
