Trick or Treat

So, the end of the week wasn’t so good for me. I didn’t feel well at work on Thursday and went home an hour early. I knew it wasn’t the flu; my sinuses get really bad around this time of year when the weather is changing. Friday, my head hurt so bad that I was sick to my stomach, so I stayed home. I didn’t really do much, just sort of lied around and took a lot of Advil Cold & Sinus.

I started to feel a little better later in the day, and since I didn’t have anything that was contagious (and we’d already bought Halloween candy) I set about to hand out candy to the neighborhood kiddies.

Simone has this obsession with candy wrappers. Last Halloween, we found she was sneaking into our pantry and stealing mini candy bars out of the bucket we had on the floor.

Ahead of time, I filled our Halloween bucket and set it on the table by the door. Simone wasted no time trying to get to her candy.

I really love our neighborhood. There are tons of young families. I love seeing a little two-year-old come to my door with about five family members standing on the sidewalk, reminding their princess to say “thank you.” I think it’s adorable.

I had one little boy come to my door with his mother. This kid couldn’t have been more than 3 years old, and he was wearing a costume like this:

A pimp costume. Complete with a fake gold chain that said “PIMP.”

Now, I’m trying not to be a fuddy duddy, but there’s no way that kid said “Mommy and Daddy, I want to be a pimp for Halloween.” I’m sure the parents saw the costume and thought it was cute and threw their kid in it. I mean, yeah, it was kind of cute to see the little kid in a suit, but a pimp suit? Weird.

I give each kid two pieces of candy, maybe three if I deem their costume to be extra cute. This boy came to the door; he was maybe 10 or so. He was a ghost, I believe. He said “trick or treat!” really loud and excited and held out his pillowcase. I dropped in two pieces of candy. He looked in the candy bucket I was holding, gave me this cute little smile, and held out his pillowcase again. I laughed and threw in another piece of candy and said “There ya go! Have a nice night!” He got this really excited look on his face and said “Wow, you are very generous!”

HAHAHA! I could have died. It was so cute and funny.

Ferris watched over the candy in between trick-or-treaters.

I turned on some special about the “100 Scariest Movie Moments” to get in the mood. Neal didn’t get home until about half an hour before the end of trick-or-treating. He did that in purpose because he hates handing out candy, HAHA.

But I was a nice little wife and had blackened chicken waiting for quesadillas and some warm pumpkin bread on the stove.
