pretty pink pills

So, I battled a sore throat and cold all week. I get sinus infections as fast as you can say “May I have a tissue,” so I tried to get my rest, take medicine, etc., to avoid it.

Alas, I woke up Friday morning with so much sinus pressure in my head that my ears were plugged up and my face and teeth hurt. Ugh. Sinus infection.

When I get a sinus infection, I’m like a drug addict. All I can think about is getting my hands on that pretty pink (generic) pill of amoxicillin. I mean, seriously, I’ll do anything. All day, all I could think about was getting a doctor’s appointment and the prescription slip.

I had to leave work early and wait an hour in the doctor’s office before seeing the doctor. I left the doctor’s office at 4:45, only to head to the pharmacy. I gave the pharmacist a death stare while I waited 20 minutes and refrained from jumping the counter and running away with the bottle clutched in my hand.

Anyway, I finally got home around 5:30 and set up a little worship altar for my pills.

OK, not really. But I do love these pills. See, here’s the deal. Not only do these pills relieve the massive pressure in my head, but they’re…. well… they’re PINK!

Funny story, my late grandfather, my dad’s father, unfortunately had many ailments late in his life. But that didn’t affect his hilarious sense of humor. One time, I had lunch at their house when I had a sinus infection (see, I get these freakin’ things like once a year!) and whipped out my pink pills. His eyes got big and said “What you have there?” and I explained my annoying illness. So he pulls out his variety of pills he took each day and we compared colors. Unfortunately, he had no cool colors. I remember one pill was a mix of two different browns. Blech. I’ll never forget it because Grandpa looked at me and said “Well, next time I go to the doctor, I’m going to ask him for some pretty pink pills like my granddaughter!”

HAHA! I never asked what his doctor said when Grandpa confronted him about the color of his pills, hahaha. OH Grandpa. Now you don’t have to worry about stupid pills at all anymore.

Anyway, I have to say after picking up my pills after a long day full of headaches, I remembered I had chili in the crock pot, simmering all day. That was seriously the best decision I made all week, haha. I didn’t have to take the time to cook anything or call out. It was great!

Neal and I are both sick right now, so we went to bed at 9:30 p.m. Friday. HAHA! We are such losers. But thanks to my pretty pink pills, I woke up feeling better. So much better, that I decided to make chocolate chip cookies. Baking always makes me happy.

The cats spent most of Saturday morning running from door to window and back to another door watching leaves fall to the ground. I wish watching leaves fall to the ground could keep me amused for a whole day.

Neal and I have plans to see friends tonight, which I’m looking forward to. Tomorrow, I’m going to try to tackle taking pictures for this year’s Christmas cards. Last year’s, starring Simone in a Santa hat, was a huge hit. I’ll post if I have any success!
