So, I was feeling a lot better by Saturday night. Neal and I went to dinner with my brother and his wife at MB & Company. I’ve bought lunch there a couple of times, and the food is really good. The atmosphere is really cool, and I highly recommend it.
Then Neal and I rented “True Romance.” I have wanted to see this movie for a while now. The movie was one of the first screenplays written by Quentin Tarentino, which should tell you something – it’s very violent. It’s essentially a love story. To the title characters, true romance is doing anything for those you love, including kill others. It is such a kickass movie, with quintessential Tarentino monologues. I loved it.
Anyway, I’ve been meaning to post these cute-as-hell pictures of Simone, asleep on Neal.
I love how her little paws are folded together.
The weather this weekend was so nice. We opened up the back door and the cats immediately found a praying mantis clinging to the screen.
I love these bugs. They are so cool looking, and they eat all the nuisance bugs, so that makes me happy.
I have been dying for homemade baked mac and cheese. I searched online and settled on a recipe found on one of my favorite sites, Smitten Kitchen. This recipe was for Martha Stewart’s Macaroni and Cheese. I had Neal get the groceries at the store (warning. the cheese involved is a little pricey, but oh well). I got to practice making a bechamel sauce, and I have to say, this mac and cheese was DA BOMB.
Seriously, this was soooo good. Neal isn’t a huge fan of mac and cheese. I knew that, but made this for me.
But he had a couple of bites and deemed it to be pretty tasty. I wish you could see, smell and taste this. It was divine.
Deb of Smitten Kitchen says it reheats well. We’ll have to see when I take the leftovers to work for lunch this week.
