So, I feel like I post more about Simone than I do about Ferris. I feel badly about that.
But I feel like he’s trying to kill us. Really. I think we have a little panther man-killer.
Here he is trying to smother Neal with his large body.
Seriously, I heard this weird muffled noise while I was sitting on the couch, and I look over and Neal’s got these wide eyes and Ferris is laying on his mouth, haha.
He also lies our chests to restrict breathing and then proceeds to pummel our necks with his paws (OK, so he’s kneading, but he’s really strong and it hurts).
Here, Ferris looking at Neal like “I’m gonna git you, boy….”
OK, so I’m just kidding. I don’t think Ferris is trying to kill us. He’s just so incredibly affectionate, it’s beyond ridiculous. He’s either chasing his sister around the house or lying on/next to us. And he’s so big, that he’s really heavy when he lies on your chest! But he’s so adorable. I love my bud to pieces.
So, I saw this recipe online for homemade au gratin potatoes and thought I’d give it a try. Neal hates the boxed au gratin (I like them, but he’s a picky pain-in-the-butt). Boy, were these good! I was so excited because I’ve never made a bechamel sauce before, which this recipe calls for. The main reason is because I’ve screwed up making a roux before, and I’m kind of scared of them. A roux is essentially a fat (butter) and flour mixed together. It sounds easy, but I could never get the flour to incorporate right. But I got the onions, garlic, butter and flour mixed well and then when I stirred in the milk, it made this beautiful, tasty bechamel. Neal proclaimed these to be “so much better than that boxed crap” and asked for them again in the future.
I served them with my meatloaf. Another Neal favorite. I wish my blog had smell-o-vision.
I got to use my new Pampered Chef garlic press, which I loved. Oh, dear garlic press, where have you been all my life?!
