So, I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while. It was a busy week and a busy weekend.
On Saturday, I participated in a kickball tournament with coworkers. It was held at the minor league baseball stadium in the city, which was really cool.
It was a lot of fun, until I took a total faceplant running into homeplate. So here’s the scenario: I was running from third base to home. I saw the pitcher with the ball, aiming to throw it at me to get me out. I arched by back to avoid the ball, and stumbled (I think). My feet flipped out from under me and next thing I know, I hit the ground with my arms straight out in front of me, Superman-style. I slid into home and touched the plate. Score!
Anyway, when I managed to stand up, I had a mouthful of dirt, bloody hands and knees. Oh boy, was that ever painful. Neal played on our team, and said he thought I knocked my teeth out, because he couldn’t see my teeth, just dirt, haha.
Anyway, it was a really fun time. None of us could believe we would make the finals, but we did! I had to leave early to get ready to make dinner and go to a local theater production with my mom, aunt, cousin and grandmother, but Neal went back to participate in the finals.
So, in honor of my mom and my aunt’s birthdays (they are both this month), my cousin and I took them and our grandmother to Menopause The Musical at the Strand-Capital Performing Arts Center.
First, I made dinner. I forgot to take pictures, but I set up a mashed potatoes bar and some shrimp and cocktail sauce. I love making mashed potatoes. Everyone loved dinner, and it was nice to just relax at my house before the show.
About the show – It was hilarious! I mean, I didn’t think I was going to find it as funny as I did. I mean, I really think I laughed the entire show. And it was really nice hanging out with the women in my family.
Aren’t we cute?
The only bad thing was, I was in a lot of pain the whole night. I mean, I think I was bordering on delirious. I couldn’t feel my face because it had been slammed into gravel only hours before. But Neal called while we were out and I got the best news:
WE WON THE TOURNAMENT!
Yeah, I have no idea how we won the kickball tournament. Neal said he wishes he would have bet on it, because our odds before the tournament of winning had to have been slim. But it was great! We got a trophy, plague, gift certificate for a free meal at a local restaurant, and these cool medals!
Whooo hooo! There’s a star on one side, and the other says “Kickball Champions.” Awesome!
Sunday, I could barely move, but we did go over to my brother’s house to visit him and the (official) sister-in-law. They just got back from their two-week honeymoon in Hawaii. It was cool to look through all their pictures, and we also got to see their helicopter DVD!
But yeah, Monday was ROUGH. I’m still super sore, and my one knee has a massive strawberry on it. It’s hard to bend. Ugh. Thank God I have a year to recover before the next kickball tournament next year.
