So, both our cats have their quirks. I mean, all cats do, but obviously I think our cats are the most special and quirky cats in the world.
When Simone was younger, she did this weird thing – if we happened to bend over somewhere near her, she’d jump on our backs and purr. She’d cling for dear life, and it was really hard to get her off. She seemed to like to jump on our backs the most when we first woke up in the morning. She’d sit at the top of the stairs and make a flying leap when we were two or three steps down. One time she took a flying leap and missed… fortunately cats always land on their feet.
Well, she kind of stopped “back jumps” – as we call them – for a while. Well, now she’s returned to back jumps, with a vengeance. She doesn’t wait for us to bend over, or walk down the stairs. She takes wild leaps from the floor to our shoulders, WHILE WE ARE JUST STANDING THERE. I’m much more susceptible to Simone back jumps because I am shorter. But seriously, it’s out of control. Neal and I are sorta tired to bleeding through our shirts from massive scratches. We try to block her, but sometimes she just comes out of nowhere!
Excuse my look. I just woke up, and I’m moaning in pain from her rear claws digging into my back. But she’s purring and happy as can be. Annoying. I mean, I don’t understand what’s so great about our backs?
So, the other day, she jumped on Neal’s back while he was standing at the kitchen table. For some reason, our ceiling fans drive her ape shit. She does what we call “meerkat,” where she stands on her hind legs, meows and paws at the air. It’s the freakin’ cutest thing ever. So, I got some double whammy pictures.
Simone. Back jump. Meerkat.
I don’t know what she’s trying to accomplish. She’s nowhere near being close enough to the ceiling fan to touch it.
What a weirdo.
