So, my pics were acting up last post and I got frustrated and just stopped, HAHA, so here’s the continuation of the weekend.
Neal and I stopped at BJ’s on the way home from the family reunion and then I came home and slept for TWO hours. Yeah, I love to sleep. Simone cuddled with me the whole time.
I came downstairs where Neal was watching TV. It started to POUR outside and then we heard these loud cracks, kind of like gunshots. We both sat straight up like little gophers, HAHA, and looked outside to see large, golf-ball sized hail.
OK, so my camera sucks and you can’t see anything. Here are better pictures of our freaked out cats watched the hail slam into our back sliding glass door.
Please ignore our disgusting carpet on the back deck. We’re planning on tearing that up.
But anyway, so far we haven’t seen any damage, but I’ll telling you, it sounded SO loud. It didn’t last too long, fortunately. I can’t even remember the last time I saw hail.
So, after the hail storm, we had a snack (too full from the reunion to each much for dinner) and headed to Lowe’s to get hardware for curtains and to Blockbuster to pick up a movie. Blockbuster didn’t have any of “21″ to rent, so we just bought it since we had a gift card anyway.
We came home and finally hung the curtain I ordered on the back sliding glass door. I’m very happy with them. I just wanted something simple.
Excuse the messy table. There was drillin’ goin’ on!
I like the border, nice and simple.
Let’s play a game. Where’s Ferris? Where’s Simone?
So after that, we watched “21.” It’s based on a true story of a team of MIT genius’s who mastered card counting and won a crap-ton of money in Vegas. It was REALLY good. Entertaining, flashy, good acting, etc. Anyone wanna borrow it?
Sunday, Neal worked outside in the yard and I cleaned. I talked to Jodie and she had a great time at her bachelorette party! I was so happy that she had a great time. I can’t wait for her wedding this Friday!
I decided to go out on a limb and make fresh baked rolls. One thing I’m still unsure about is active dry yeast. I just don’t understand yet how to let it foam up, kneed it into flour and let it rise. Ugh. But I’m trying. I made focaccia a couple of months ago, and that turned out all right.
The rolls didn’t rise like I think they were supposed to, but I still thought they were pretty dang good.
I also thought they were pretty.
I made chicken picatta for dinner. Neal loves capers (Yeah, I know, weird, right? Most people don’t even know what capers are). Chicken picatta is one of the only things I know how to make with capers, so that’s what I whipped up for Sunday dinner. I put the chicken over rice and then poured the awesome sauce on top.
This definitely turned out better than last time I made it. I think I used more butter this time? So the sauce was really luxurious. I know that sounds really lame, but that’s the only word I could think of.
This week is a four-and-a-half day week, since I leave early Friday for Jodie’s wedding. Oh, and one of our good friends proposed to his girlfriend, so I’m SOOO excited about that! Congrats to Chris and Newbie.
Ahhhh… marriage is the best thing that ever happened to me, so it makes me happy to see other gettin’ hitched.
