one man’s trash, another’s treasure

So, we had a crapload of trash from our little deck project this weekend – carpet, wooden trim, metal canopy remnants.

Our spot on the curb for trash day tomorrow is a little full.

Lot \'o trash

Sorry for the dark picture.

This was taken five minutes after some guy in a pickup truck took away our panels from the metal canopy. See, Neal carried about two of the panels for tomorrow’s trash day (with the intention of putting a little out each week). Some guy in a pickup truck drove by and started loading them into the bed. Me, being Miss Johnny-on-the-spot, asked if he would take more if we brought them out.

“Sure!” was his response.

So I called out to Neal to grab the rest of the panels and haul-ass so this guy would take the rest of our crap. How exciting is that? He took so much of our trash. Neal said the guy will probably take it to the scrap yard and get money for it. I don’t care what he does, just as long as it’s off of our stinkin’ property.

So anyway, dinner was good tonight. I saw a recipe online for garlic carrots, so I decided to make our standby – parmesan chicken – to go with the carrots. Recipe for the carrots is here.

So, first thing was to peel the carrots. I love my little KitchenAid peeler tool. I loved peeling the carrots. A lot. I have no idea why, I just really liked the whole peeling thing. I’m weird.

These things were sooooo good. I really love glazed carrots, but sometimes they are a little sweet and don’t always go well with other foods. These were great, and so easy. Just some butter, carrots and garlic.

Neal gave two thumbs up for this dinner.

But anyway, the Olympics really need to be over. I can’t handle this late night thing anymore. I’m old.

Oh, and I got my new Better Homes & Gardens magazine today. There are some really good recipes and stuff in it, including this recipe for a lemon sponge pie that I HAVE to try. I love that magazine.

Well, this Saturday is going to be an early day because we have to go to the wiffleball tournament. First game is 9 a.m.! Aaaah!

Anyway, here are some pics of the cats, because they are just so dang cute.
