Born in the u.s.a (in 1983)

So, my body hates me today. It hated me yesterday, too, and a little Saturday night. But it definitely completely loathes and detests me today for making it play wiffleball, thereby using muscles that haven’t been used (sadly) in a long time. I walked like I had a stick up my ass all day, and it seems like I wasn’t the only Fluffy Kitten in a little bit of pain today.

However, other than my body clearly rejecting itself, today was the best day ever. Why? Because of Isaac’s Deli. Yes, the sandwich shop home to pickled veggies, rainbow bread and (my favorite) the Scarlet Ibis made my WEEK.

Because of this:

Oh, Isaac\'s. I knew my loyalty would pay off someday.

See, I never win anything. I never luck out. I always draw the short stick. Ooohhh, but thanks to Isaac’s, not this year. I was born in ‘83, and therefore, I got to enjoy my favorite soup and sandwich (pepperjack tomato soup and a regular scarlet ibis) FOR FREE. Seriously. Neal and I each got soup, sandwich, dessert and a drink FOR FREE. We weren’t limited to certain menu items; we could order whatever we wanted. We showed our ID’s to our waitress and she didn’t even give us a receipt. We got the whole thing FOR FREE. Did I mention it was FREE?

I think it’s the York County dutchman in me. I LOVE FREE FOOD. It’s seriously the best thing ever. I get so excited about it. To be honest, the free food could be liver and onions and I’d still be all over because it’s FREE. So the fact that my favorite freakin’ deli offered me a free meal, well, it was practically Christmas. My dedication to Isaac’s paid off. I got a free meal. And I enjoyed every bite of it. Thank you, Isaac’s.

And thank you to Mrs. Good for informing us of the AWESOME deal. Oh, and the reason I didn’t post this yesterday was because I didn’t want to fight the crowds. Yes, it’s always all about me. :)

OK, so I made some goodies over the weekend that I have to post pics of, because, that’s what I do!

Friday, I was craving black bottom cupcakes – the chocolate ones with a little bit of cheesecake. So I stopped at store on the way home, picked up the ingredients, and made these babies.

Oh boy, are these good. I made mini-cupcakes and they turned out really well.

On Sunday, I decided to try this recipe I found for crispy yogurt chicken legs, which basically involved rolling chicken in some garlic and parsley flavored yogurt, then rolling them in panko bread crumbs. Panko bread crumbs are Asian-style bread crumbs. These little babies were really good! I served them with store-bought cole slaw and some homemade cheesy muffins.

They were really good! The bread crumbs got really crispy and it was a nice alternative to fried chicken. The recipe is here.

We worked a little in the yard Sunday, and of course, took some super cute pics of the cats. Ferris’s favorite thing is to lie on Neal’s stomach while he’s on the couch, knead his neck and lick his face. Yeah, I know. Ferris is weird.

And Simone was cute as always on her favorite spot, the ottoman.

How can you resist that face!

Very cool! Thanks for coming in and enjoying Isaac’s. It’s exciting to be a quarter of a century old, isn’t it?

I also have a cat named Simone! I searched my blog, but I can’t find a photo. http://www.thesandwichboard.blogspot.com
You write a lot more than me. By the time I get photos transfered and uploaded, I am pooped!

I hope we see you at Isaac’s soon, again.

    Thanks for the mention!
