My baby brings home the bacon…

I cover school board meetings for a local school district, so I was busy last night attending a meeting. Nothing much happened, which means nothing to write about, which means no $$. Oh well.

I came home one night last week to this:

toy-basket

See, we keep all of the cats toys in a basket that fits into cubbie in one of our side tables. I mean, usually the cats’ toys are all over the floor, but on the rare occasion I actually straighten up, that’s where they go. Ferris and Simone know that’s where their toys are. When we aren’t paying attention to them, or they get bored, Ferris manages to wedge his paw in the cubbie and tip the basket, spilling the toys. Then, he kind of selects whatever he’s in the mood floor. That’s him in the corner, trying to figure out what he wants to play with. It’s funny, but it’s also annoying because the basket is right by our front door.

Anyhoo. Good news! Neal’s company has employee of the month recognitions and stuff like that. Neal often gets employee of the month (it’s a small office) and they announced today that he received Employee of the Quarter! The best part is he gets a $50 gift card to Lowe’s. I’m already plotting on all the ways we can use this gift card. HEHE. Usually he gets Blockbuster coupons when he’s employee of the month. He also got a nice email about what a great employee he is. :) I’m pretty proud of my sweetie.

In home news, I ordered curtains. I ordered free samples first.

The curtains are a natural linen color, shown above, and then there’s one strip of the ribbon along the bottom. Neal liked the one on the right, “delft blue” better. I want to put a valance over my kitchen window and tab top curtains over the sliding glass doors. I hope I like them! I’m sure hanging them will be a treat…. ** cough cough**

I have a short week this week. I’m taking a personal day Friday so Neal and I can take the cats to the vet. We are also celebrating our two-year anniversary this weekend. We’ve been so busy all summer, and it will be nice to spend a weekend just the two of us. We don’t have anything big planned, and that was the point, HAHA. I’m really looking forward to it.
