So, we had another busy Saturday this weekend. I was invited to a bridal shower for one of my good friends Saturday morning and then Neal and I headed to another friend’s college graduation party. Whew! It was fun, and I think I gained 10 pounds from all the yummy food…
Anyway, a good friend and college roommate of mine, Jodie, had her bridal shower Saturday morning. She knew she was having her shower, but she did not know where it was. It was held at Moondancer Winery in Hellam, which was really pretty.
The bridal party did a great job decorating inside.
See that gray box? That’s my gift for Jodie. What did I do? Yeah, I LEFT IT AT HOME. Who comes to a shower without a freakin’ gift? Yeah, me, that’s who. So I had to call Neal to bring it for me, which he was NOT happy about doing. He had errands and things he wanted to do. But, because he’s great, he brought it for me and it was all good. I still felt like a dummy.
Anyway, Jodie’s fiance, Dan, and her two brothers brought her blindfolded, which was pretty funny.
Then… SURPRISE!!
Jodie looked so cute and happy.
While she mingled, we stuffed our faces with the yummy food.
And then it was time for gift opening. Jodie got a ton of loot. Here she is opening my almost-forgotten gift, her chip and dip set that I thought was really cute.
One of her friends from college got her Pittsburgh Steelers garters, which I thought was so cute (Dan’s a fan).
Of course, we’re not Steelers fans in this household (E-A-G-L-E-S), but I thought the garters were still pretty cool, HAHA.
Our friend Jess did a great job making the bow bouquet. She’s so crafty so we make her do the bow bouquet at all the showers.
So, of course, all had to pose for photos, ’cause that what friends do at important events.
Aren’t they cute?
So, we left the gorgeous winery and I went home to change before we headed to our friend’s graduation party in Lancaster.
We got there and gave the grad, Chris, some wine. We pretty much headed to the food right away, which was amazing.
I think a lot of us were tired, so we sat around, eating and talking. It was a pretty fun time. Then, the best baby ever – Maggie – made her appearance.
Here’s adorable ginger Maggie. I’ve been at a couple of events with her now, and she’s such a good and happy baby. I can’t believe how big she’s getting! See, normally I avoid children at events like the plaque, and especially babies. While Neal and I do want children, we just aren’t ready yet, and babies still sort of freak me out. I always think I’m going to drop them or they are going to cry. But Maggie’s parents are very laid back, which I think relaxes me enough to want to actually hold Maggie. Plus, look how cute she is!! So I held Maggie, and felt slight maternal instincts while doing so. I guess that’s a start, right?
See, I’m actually around a kid and I’m happy! There’s hope for me, HAHA. Anyway, Maggie actually does make me want to have children… someday…
So, Neal and I came home and promptly went to sleep. It was sort of a long day.
Woke up the Sunday morning and decided to run some errands. We went to Target and Michael’s, where I got some candles and decorations.
I got those candles at Target. And I recently bought that large blue bowl on clearance at Crate & Barrel, but it looked weird empty, so I got those grapevine ball things. I like them for now, but will probably change it seasonally. I got matching candles for my wall sconces.
I cleaned the house a little. Neal and I did some yard work and I watered some plants, but of course it rained in the evening. Simone was fascinated.
I made caesar salad and baked potatoes for dinner. I used my snazzy salad bowl.
Neal was supposed to have a soccer game, but it was rained out, so we just hung out at home. The grass really needed it, so that was good.
Our weekends have been busy, but it’s been a lot of fun seeing our friends as much as we have this summer. We talked this weekend about how we need to start claiming holidays, so we can each have parties and make sure everyone gets together. I say, Good Plan!
Anyway, another week of work, but I do have a personal day this Friday, so it will be nice to have a four-day week.
