Bucklin’ down…

So, we slept at the Bear house Friday night and woke up Saturday morning feeling OK, although it took a good cup of coffee to get that way.

We got home and for some reason, after a tasty egg sandwich, I was ready to get some work done around the house. First thing was to organize the coat closet. The previous owners of our home had put a shelving unit in, but a lot of the shelves were too close together. I took two shelves out, stacked our blankets and rolled up air mattress on the shelves and separated our jumble of hats, mittens and gloves into two piles – mine and Neal’s. I went to Target and bought some little canvas bins for easy access.

I have to wait a couple of months to actually use this organized coat closet, HAHA, but it makes me feel good knowing it’s actually organized now.

Neal and I went to Home Depot to get shelves for our office. I wanted something to go over our filing cabinet. Neal spent a good portion of Saturday night measuring and hanging the shelves. And then I decorated them. That little sign on the top shelf says “It’s the cat’s house, we just pay the mortgage.” HAHA. My friend, Jess, got it for me, and I’m not sure if she even knows how true it is!

I’m really in love with the brackets. Aren’t they cool?

We kind of passed out from exhaustion Saturday night. We spent a lot of Sunday watching the tennis final – Federer vs. Nadal. I don’t know anything about tennis, but that was really fun to watch.

We went to the grocery store, and they had blueberries on sale. I don’t like raw blueberries, and I don’t buy them to make in pies or desserts very often because they are expensive. But they were on sale, so I bought some and made blueberry buckle for dessert tonight. I was really happy with how mine came out. Seriously, I actually moaned at the first bite. It was delicious. My grandmother always makes blueberry buckle, and while mine was dang good, hers was better, because… everything is better at Nanny’s.

Gotta have milk.

Neal ate it and liked it, but he’s not really into fruit desserts. I’ll take some into work to give to my brother. He’ll gobble it up. :)

So, it was a good weekend. I was happy to let loose with my friends, but still get some things done around the house. I still have some time to clean the bathrooms….
