A whole two years…

So, Neal and I had a FANTASTIC weekend. I’ll start with Friday, and I might have to break this weekend into two posts.

I slept in a little on Friday, while Neal got up to get his hair cut and go to the gym. He came back with flowers for me. :)

I think the cats enjoyed them more than I did.

**sigh**

I love flowers, but the cats usually eat them, so there’s rarely a point in getting any or displaying some cuts flowers I bring in from my garden.

But anyway, it was very nice of Neal to bring me flowers, especially because he didn’t get any our last anniversary and I gave him hell for it, HAHA.

Once he came back, it was time to get the cats ready for their appointment at the vet. I was really excited about taking them, mostly because I wanted to know how much my big buddy, Ferris, weighs. So we loaded them in their carrier and I sat in the back seat with them while Neal drove. Of course, they hated it and meowed the whole time.

The appointment went really well. Ferris weighs 15 pounds and Simone weighs 10.4. They did really well and got all their shots. The Dr. commented on how great they looked. He said their weights are perfect and their skin and coats are healthy. Neal and I were very proud. :)

We dropped the cats off and ran some errands. We’re trying to find a bookshelf for our office, but still haven’t found one we like.

I decided I wanted to make this egg casserole for Saturday morning that my mom always make on Christmas Day. It has to be made the day before and then sit overnight before baking. It has eggs, milk, bread, cheese and sausage in it. Yum!

First, I browned the turkey sausage. Neal and I rarely eat pork and don’t use ground beef products. We try to stick with chicken breast and always use ground turkey.

While the sausage browned, I whisked the milk and eggs and cut the bread into cubes.

I took a quick break to see what Neal was doing and found him cuddled on the coach with Simone. Asleep.

I took some pictures, said “aaawwwwww” a bunch of times, and then went back to cooking. I cut up the sausage and mixed everything together.

Then I put everything into a casserole dish, covered it with foil, and stuck it in the fridge.

Yum.

OK, then it was time to get ready for our dinner reservations. Neal told me that afternoon that he had made reservations at Stock’s on 2nd in Harrisburg. I’ve been to Stock’s one other time a couple of years ago with friends, and LOVED it. So I was really excited. Plus, I like Harrisburg and really did want to get out of York for a little.

We got there right on time and got a booth right by the window. The funniest thing was that the seats were really deep and my legs didn’t come close to touching the floor. I think my calves were at the end of the seat, HAHA, so my legs just kind of stuck out at Neal.

The atmosphere and food was great.

It was so nice to spend time together. We’ve had a great summer with our friends, and I’m so glad we are able to see them so much and do some much with them. But this summer we hadn’t really done much JUST US. We had a really nice time.

Neal and I actually took a trip to Harrisburg for our one-year anniversary of dating back when we were in college. It was great then, and it was great again this time.

After dinner, we took a walk down by the Susquehanna River. We took these steep steps down the bank to sit right along the concrete steps on the edge of the water and watched the sunset.

Neal made weird comments (it’s typical) about beaver dams and boats on the river (don’t ask). We tried to take pictures without the aid of a third party.

But we’re romantically challenged, so the pictures slowly evolved to this…

HEHE :)

Anyway, it was truly a nice night. It felt good to just be together. Even if Neal continued voicing his opinion about how the City of York would be SO MUCH BETTER if it had been built right on the Susquehanna, like Harrisburg. He seriously brought that up about 50 times in the last month. I told him the Codorus is sooooo much better. :)
